The beautiful town of Meaford is nestled into the southern shore area of Georgian Bay and lies between Owen Sound and the new town of Blue Mountains. Although some areas have changed, Meaford still maintains homes from a bygone era due in part to the artisan community of the town. One of the most coveted experiences in the area, and one that attracts visitors from all over Canada, is to travel the Apple Pie Trail. Thirty stops along the apple pie trail allow the area to share beautiful apple blossoms in the spring to the sight of growing apples in the summer and the smell of apples baking in the fall and winter.
Meaford and the surrounding area is one of the coveted "Four Season" areas where there is always something to do. During the summer months there's swimming and boating or lazing in the sun, but it's also an active town with concerts and great theatre. An interesting organization in Meaford is the Business Improvement Area. This organization has been active for twenty years and is run by volunteers who work throughout the year to promote businesses in the area and work on a number of beautification projects throughout the year.
